Mirror, mirror on the wall, where is the best camp location of all? Arnhem Land of course! If you consider your self as adventurous and curious, Arnhem Land is definitely for you! However, if you are a peaceful and relaxing person, I am sure you will find all sorts of wonderful discoveries around the place! Located in the North-East corner of the Northern Territory, Arnhem Land is a vast wilderness piece of land that is brilliant for camping, hiking, and lots of other different activities too! To find out, I actually went to Arnhem Land to test it out. I was glad that I went there, because it was even better than my last destination, Hawaii!

I arrived at Arnhem Land by car in the morning. I drove from Sydney and began my trip to Arnhem Land. It took me four days to get there, but it was really worth it. I slept in my car at night, and even went to a motel somewhere along the way. Anyways, I got to Arnhem Land safely, and I booked a camping site to stay at night. Luckily, the money also came with a tourist group too! Firstly, we got on to our double-decker bus and arrived at a indigenous place. We heard some exciting didgeridoo songs, and heard dances with aboriginal songs. They showed us how to use the didgeridoo and mimic some animal sounds. We learnt to play for 15 minutes, and then we got back on the bus.

After the show, the group ate breakfast. The locals introduced us to a weird looking fruit called the ‘Bush tomato’. The taste was astonishing, like a cross between tomatoes and dragon fruit. We ate for half an hour and then got our camping gears. I was one of the people who didn’t have to carry heavy equipments. I had a light-weight sleeping bag and my turquoise mini tent, plus my water bottle. We headed for our campsite by hiking up the Dhimurru walking trail. The group feasted on packed sandwiches amongst some giant rocks nearby. We had a 5 minute rest and continued on with our journey.

The travel group also met some national wildlife along the way, like black wallaroos and several rock rats. An hour later, we arrived at our campsite, Turtle Beach. We set up our tents far away from the shore so they won’t suddenly flood. Then, we went down to the coastline and had our dinner. Our dinner was wonderful, and we had a big barbecue with corn on the cobs too! We joined the locals for a dance after our delicious feast. Their traditional dance involved walking in a circle and jumping really high. The travel group had supper by  toasting marshmallows above the campfire. It was a pretty hilarious site when our tour leader burnt her treat.

After supper we got into our tents and slept. I recommend that all explorers and campers should visit Arnhem Land. The trip was brilliant, so if you have the chance, make sure to book a trip there!
